A SCOUT from Welling has been congratulated by the Queen for his scouting achievements.

Luke Robertson, aged 18, of Ashmore Grove, has been awarded the Queen’s Scout Award, the highest honour in scouting.

His award was presented in a prestigious ceremony at Windsor Castle on Sunday (April 29), where the Queen was joined by adventurer Bear Grylls to recognise the accomplishment of 600 scouts.

Luke undertook a series of challenges to achieve the award, including an expedition, a residential project in an unfamiliar environment and a period of service to the community.

He said: “Undertaking the Queen Scout Award has allowed me to meet so many new people, in and out of scouting.

“The opportunities have been endless as I’ve been offered to join a number of national and international events.”

Chief Scout Bear Grylls added: "All these young people have lived the adventure of a lifetime to achieve their Queen’s Scout Awards, and I admire that spirit so much.

"They are huge inspirations to all the other scouts in the UK and I am so pleased that scouting has honoured them today, they are amazing."

Scouts between the age of 16 and 25 are invited to partake in the Queen’s Scout Award.
