THE rain may have poured but spirits were high as girl guides from Bexleyheath celebrated their anniversary on Saturday (April 28).

Girls from the Hurst Rainbow Guides, based in St James the Great Church in Bladindon Drive, travelled to Sevenoaks to celebrate the 25th year of the Rainbow Guides.

They travelled to Cudham campsite along with more than 400 guides from across south London to enjoy a day of celebrations.

The girls joined together to enjoy a day packed with craft-making, singing and face-painting, culminating in a mass sing-along of ‘happy birthday.’

Kim Hallworth, leader of the Hurst Rainbow Guides for 18 years, said: “Although the weather was against us, in true guiding spirit we all had a brilliant time.

“It was nice to see so many girls together having fun.

“We look forward to the next 25 years of Rainbow Guides.”

The Hurst Rainbow Guides is for girls aged between five and seven.
