A SCHOOL is celebrating after being rewarded for being environmentally friendly.
Children at Hawes Down Infant School in the Mead, West Wickham, impressed inspectors who awarded the school with the coveted green flag.
As an eco school the children learn about environmental awareness and have an eco code set by a committee of staff and pupils.
Children on the eco committee gave inspectors a tour of the school and answered questions about environmental issues.
Pamela McNamara, the teacher in charge of eco issues, said: “I was extremely proud of the four children who escorted the assessor on a confident grand tour of the school.
“The children, who represented all of the children in school, were engaged and enthusiastic about looking after our immediate environment and more global issues.”
