A TEENAGER who came off a stolen motorbike after it crashed in this morning was having trouble breathing as he lay on the ground, according to a witness.

The witness, who did not want to be named, came out of her home in Bournewood Road, Orpington, at about 3.30am after hearing the crash and seeing the red glow from the rear light of the vehicle.

At first she thought she was imagining it but as she walked to the crash site near her house she saw the scene.

She said: “To me it looked like the bike hit the kerb by the shrubbery and had then gone in to the little wall and then the tree.

“I did not realise until I went down there that there were two on the bike.

“There was one lying down between the wall and the tree and I think the other one got up and I said ‘Sit down, you’re going to be in trauma’.

“The one that was lying down seemed like he was having trouble breathing.

“I did not see helmets but it was quite dark.

“I just saw the red glow from the rear bike light.”

Desmond Fallon, who lives near the scene, says part of the road was cordoned off with blue and white police tape until around 9.30am this morning (April 30).

The 70-year-old said: “It must be dreadful for the parents and I’m really sorry to hear that the teenagers are in a bad way.

“I have two boys of my own and I would be horrified to hear of something like that happening to them.”

The motorbike had been stolen in a burglary committed at an address in Orpington in the early hours of this morning.

The 17 year old boys, from St Mary Cray, were taken to Kings College Hospital by ambulance.

One of them is said to be critical but stable and the other one does not have life threatening injuries.
