Mum 'disgusted' after thieves nick four-year-old daughter's 'humongous' trampoline
A MOTHER is distraught after her four-year-old daughter’s 12ft wide trampoline was dragged over the fence and stolen from her garden.
Nikki Hill, of Russett Way, Swanley was shocked to discover the green trampoline - around 7ft in height including the safety net, missing when she returned home last week.
The 32-year-old realised something was wrong when she got a note through the door from a neighbour saying they had found her dog Daisy.
The mother-of-two said: “I thought she must have got out through the back gate, so I went outside to have a look.
“In a split second I realised something was missing.”
The trampoline had distinctive red and white stripy tape stuck to one side where it had been ripped.
She said: “It was humongous.
“It was really high - it protruded over the fence.
“Whoever stole it must have lifted it over - it would have taken three blokes at least.
“No one saw or heard anything - I think it must have happened in the night.”
Ms Hill, who also has a 21-month-old daughter, Lara, says she cannot bring herself to tell her daughter Evie the trampoline was stolen.
She said: “How do you explain to a four-year-old that adults have stolen your trampoline?
“She goes on it whenever the sun is out and invites her friends over- she’ll be heartbroken.”
She added: “It’s one thing to steal from an adult, but to steal kids’ toys is disgusting.
“If someone can afford to hire a truck to steal it, they can afford to go to ASDA and get one for themselves.
“Trampolines are not cheap, especially for a single mum.”
A police spokeswoman said: ”Overnight between April 22 and April 23 between 6pm and 1pm, the trampoline went missing from Ms Hill’s garden.
“It was dragged over the fence because it would not fit through the back gate and would have needed a sizeable vehicle to take it away.”
