A HISTORIAN is to give a talk about his great uncle, who was a surviving radio operator on the Titanic.

George Sinclair will be speaking about former Shortlands resident Harold Bride at Langley Park School for Boys in South Eden Park Road, Beckenham.

Organised by the school's history society, members of the public are invited to the free lecture, which begins at 4pm on Tuesday, May 8.

Mr Bride attended the Beckenham Technical Institute, now Langley Park School for Boys.

Pupils have been recently studying Mr Bride in their history lessons.

This year is the centenary year for when the Titanic sank in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912.
