FRIENDS and family of a Belvedere student who died after being hit by a bus gathered at the scene of the crash to pay tribute.

Around 30 people gathered at the crossing of Bugsby’s Way in Greenwich where 25-year-old Praise Oduberu, of Caldy Road, died.

The gathering let off a fleet of balloons carrying messages as well as saying prayers and laying flowers on Thursday (April 26).

The oldest of Praise’s three siblings, Priscilla, 22, said: "This is just a few of us. There are loads that wanted to come over.

"We just wanted to pay our last respects."

Priscilla, an interior design student at Hertfordshire University, said her sister - who was due to start medical school later in the year - was "bubbly", "popular," and "friendly".

She said: "She was always caring for others and would not do anything without knowing her sisters were alright."

Praise was returning to her car from an induction session for a summer job at the O2 arena at 5.10pm on April 17 when she was struck by a 486 bus at the junction between Bugsby’s Way and Southern Way where bus lanes meet busy traffic and pedestrian crossings.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem examination revealed the cause of death as head injuries.

Priscilla said: "My little sister called me, I was at university. She told me the police came round and said they found Praise’s passport but it might not be her.

"We started calling her phone but she didn’t pick up.

"My dad went down there and they told him.

"I was all over the place. It is just too much."

The 41-year-old bus driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed to a south London police station until July 4.
