A GRAVESEND man who illegally dumped trade waste at a household recycling centre has received a suspended prison sentence.
Barry Lillicrap, of Essex Road in Gravesend, pleaded guilty at Dartford Magistrates’ Court on April 19 to two charges of dishonestly and intentionally making a false representation about commercial waste he took to Pepperhill Household Waste Recycling Centre in Dartford.
The 62-year-old was given a four month suspended prison sentence, and a six week curfew. He was also ordered to pay £1,000 costs.
Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Waste, Councillor Bryan Sweetland, said he hoped the conviction would “send a clear message”.
Cllr Sweetland said: “KCC believe that it is right and proper to bring these offences to the court’s notice, to protect the interests of the council tax payer. It is illegal for businesses to dispose of their commercial waste at the Household Waste Recycling Centres.”
