SIGNIFICANT improvement has been made at Bexley College, according to inspectors.

Ofsted rated the Tower Road-based college at having made “significant progress” in three of six categories – self assessment and action planning, numeracy and literacy outcomes and ensuring learning support is effective.

The other three categories were marked as having made “reasonable progress”.

The college, which teaches 1,100 full time and 1,500 part time students vocational-based subjects like construction and hair and beauty, was visited by inspectors on March 14 and 15, with the findings published on Friday (April 20).

In the report, Inspector Alex Falconer wrote: “Teachers feel empowered and better supported to reflect on, and continuously improve, the quality of teaching.”

Principal Danny Ridgeway thanked staff for their hard work. He said: “We are now firmly on the path to establishing Bexley College as an outstanding further education provider.

“Given our planning application for a new build in Erith Town Centre these are very exciting times for the College.”
