TEENAGERS from Thamesmead have learnt about school-life in Holland as part of an exchange visit.

Youngsters studying at the Business Academy Bexley socialised with students from the United World College, in Maastricht, where pupils originate from more than 100 different nationalities.

The Year 9 students joined members of Thamesmead Youth Voice to meet the eight Dutch students.

Ex-Thamesmead Youth Voice member Cecily Blain, who is now a student at the United World College in Holland, co-ordinated the visit.

One of the highlights of the exchange visit was an arts workshop, where the students discussed the themes ‘discrimination against young people’ and ‘perceptions of London.’

Trust Thamesmead’s community development officer Emer O’Sullivan said: “The arts projects were extremely engaging and well facilitated, initiating provocative discussions and exchange between the groups.”

The Thamesmead Youth Voice offers teenagers studying in Thamesmead the opportunity to become involved in their community.
