MORE than 100 children have missed out on their top three choices of primary school in north Kent.
Kent County Council has revealed 76 of the 1,239 applicants in Dartford were denied a place and will now have to look to attend a different primary school.
A total of 46 of the 1,195 applicants in Gravesham will also be allocated a place at a different primary school within the borough.
The process saw families name six primary schools in order of preference.
Cabinet member for education, learning and skills, Mike Whiting said: “As much as we would love to offer every family their first preference, there is a balance to find between catering for population and popularity.
“While it would be the wish of parents to expand popular schools, we have to consider factors such as the capacity of the school site and the knock-on effect to neighbouring schools.”
