Hospice charity, Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, this week unveiled plans for The Big Walk - a sponsored walk that starts and finishes at Bostall Heath, Abbey Wood - on the outskirts of Greenwich.

It all takes place on Sunday, May 13, and has a choice of four routes across 3, 5, 7 or 10 miles, for people of all ages and abilities to take part in.

Walkers will be able to discover many places of local interest including the Lesnes Abbey Ruins and Fossil Beds and for the 10 mile walkers; views from Shooters Hill, one of the highest points in London at 423 ft with fabulous views over the River Thames and central London.

The walkers will be raising funds for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, a charity that provides free specialist end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses, as well as providing support for their families, friends and carers.

Stephanie Fuller, from the Hospice fundraising team, said: “We hope that hundreds of people will join in the fun at what promises to be a great family day out whilst raising vital funds for their local hospice.”

There will be entertainment and refreshments from 9am onwards on Bostall Heath including a breakfast tent, bouncy castle, BBQ tent and many fun and exciting challenges along the route for all the family to take part in including a 10-minute Zumba warm up at 9.15am and at 9.40am.

Pre-event registration costs £10 per adult, £5 per accompanying child (5-15 yrs) and under 5's go free. On-the-day registration costs £15 per adult, £5 per accompanying child (5-15 yrs) and under 5's go free.

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice branded T-shirts will be available for purchase on the day of the Walk for £4 - or walkers who pledge to raise £50 or more in sponsorship get one for free!
