Five-year-old girl in critical condition following Erith car crash
9:54am Monday 23rd April 2012 in News By Alan Woods
Police were called to the scene of the accident at 17:40pm on Thursday.
A FIVE-year-old girl from Erith is in a critical but stable condition following a two vehicle-crash.
Police were called to Northend Road on Thursday (April 19) at 4:10pm to an incident involving a Hyundai Getz and an articulated lorry.
The 45-year-old driver of the Volvo lorry, who came from the Tyne and Wear area, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of careless driving.
He was later bailed until June, pending further enquiries.
London’s Air Ambulance treated the child at the scene for head injuries and she was taken by helicopter to the Royal London Hospital.
She has since been transferred to another hospital.
Long delays were experienced on Northend Road, particularly in the area close to the junction with Thames Road where the accident happened.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Bexley Police on 020 8284 9131.
