Police hunting sex offender who groped women on public transport

A MANHUNT is underway for a convicted sex offender who has failed to tell police where he is living.

Colin Franklin was released from prison last December and part of the requirement of his sex offender registration is that he must tell police his current address.

But the 46-year-old, who lived in and around the Beckenham area before being jailed in September 2009, has not done so.

Franklin is on the sex offenders register for life and also has a sexual offences prevention order stopping him from entering or travelling on the London Underground or Docklands Light Railway for five years.

He was given a three year jail sentence at Southwark Crown Court after being found guilty of sexual assault in February 2010.

During his trial the court heard he made lewd comments to two train passengers at Manor House and Belsize Park Tube stations in September 2008.

On both occasions he groped the women's breasts before fleeing as the train doors opened at the platforms.

In a third attack, also in September 2008, Franklin repeatedly groped a woman from behind as she stepped off a train at Angel Tube station.

Franklin was found not guilty of two other counts of sexual assault during his trial in September 2009.

Why wasn't this done whilst he was in prison? They only had three years to do so! You would have thought this would have been one of the conditions so he could be released. I agree with bothered44 'why wasn't he tagged?' How long before he does it again?? One word springs to mind 'useless'!!!

Mind you, you have to admit that he looks full of remorse in his mug shot. Let's hope the smirk gets wiped off his ugly mug when he's in the prison showers, or anywhere else, come to think of it.

ONe time people would look out for each other on the transport system we would give up our seats to women and mothers with children we would help the elderley into there seats we would never have dreamed that poeple could do such things on the transport system we could also leave our latch key in the door and no one would dare to go into another persons home to rob we need to teach these thugs that crime does not pay he should be sent to a military glass house the other squaddies in there would soon teach him not to treat our woman like this.Thank you.

Thanks for your support. Unfortunately it's not the police's fault. Society is always let down by the courts and the government. Until someone has the balls to stand up and say enough is enough, this and all other types of crime will continue to blight our lives. If prisoners were breaking rocks or sewing mailbags, rather than watching TV, Playing PS3s and Wiis, then they might think twice about re-offending.

How is this the fault of the Police? Frankiln was released after his sentence, the duty is on FRANKLIN to report to the Police?

How did the Prison Service also get the blame?
He served his time, (or the pathetic excuse for a prison term).
May be if you want to blame someone, try blaming that half wit scumbag Franklin, who is the convicted pervert who wanders the public transport system touching up women.
