SPRING arrived in style at a nursery last week with the visit of some chickens.
Sugar and Spice met the children at Little Stars Day Nursery in Martins Road, Shortland as part of their spring-focussed curriculum.
The youngsters, aged from three months to five years old, have been making feather collages, learning where chickens live, hearing chicken stories and singing chicken songs.
And if that wasn't chicken-mad enough they even had a whole PE lesson acting like chickens and also made cakes with eggs the chickens had laid that morning.
Teacher Karen Brett said: "It is so nice that the children will have the opportunity to meet my chickens.
"Sugar and Spice are extremely tame as they were born and reared at my own children’s primary school and now live with us."
