CRAY Wanderers are set for a busy and exciting two weeks that will decide the destiny of their promotion and cup ambitions for the 2011-12 season.

The Wands travel to Kingstonian on Thursday night (7.45pm) for a semi-final tie in the London Senior Cup, with a possibility of reaching the final for the first time in the club's history.

Meanwhile the home game versus Lewes on Saturday (3pm) is the first of Cray's four vital remaining fixtures in the Ryman Premier League.

After their Easter campaign brought a defeat by Harrow Borough and a win against Margate, the Wands hold fifth place in the table and are still in contention to reach the promotion play-offs at the end of the season.

Fifth place would put the Wands into the play-offs, but after playing Lewes (sixth) who are one of their biggest challengers, Cray next have to play Bury Town (fourth) and Lowestoft Town (third) who are also thirsty for points in the end-of-season promotion shake-out.

After that tough sequence of games, the Wands will play already-relegated Horsham on the last Saturday of the regular season, on 28 April.

Cray manager Ian Jenkins, who has all along believed that his team has the quality to achieve promotion, will be looking for his players to continue the resurgence that brought a 3-1 away win at Margate on Easter Monday.

The home defeat versus Harrow Borough had brought despair to the Cray camp on Easter Saturday, conceding two second half goals after Tommy Whitnell had given Cray the lead from the penalty spot in the first half.

Facing a difficult Kent local derby at Margate in difficult, windy conditions, the Wands rallied to win 3-1 after dominating the game and having more chances than the home side.

Sam Long's goal for Cray was cancelled out by Margate's equaliser in the first half, but Jamie Darvill restored Cray's lead after the interval and Whitnell sealed the three points for Cray with another penalty-kick.

Cray's crucial game against Lewes kicks off at 3pm at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
