A ROMANIAN who verbally abused a woman on a train before spitting phlegm at a paramedic who tried to treat him was sentenced to five weeks in jail.
Bromley Magistrates' Court heard today (April 10) how Vasile Nistor, aged 40, was drunk when he assaulted Lucy Rankin on a late night train last year.
The unemployed man, from Tanner's Hill, Deptford, branded Ms Rankin a "sl*t" and a "sl*g" before moving towards her and spitting just after midnight on January 14.
Other travellers intervened and Nistor was ejected at New Cross station where a paramedic attempted to treat him for a cut before she too was spat at.
After his arrest, a custody nurse was kicked in the leg after trying to raise him from his drunken stupor.
He was jailed for two weeks for threatening behaviour, one week for common assault and another two weeks for common assault on the nurse, to run concurrently.
Nistor, who intends to return to Romania, had pleaded guilty to all charges.
