CUBS came together and did their best during their first tournament under the banner of Bromley District Scouts.

Packs from all over the borough took part in a series of challenges in Jubilee Country Park, Petts Wood, ranging from putting up tents, tying knots and completing an inflatable obstacle course.

Each team was awarded points for each activity with the eventual winners coming from the 32nd Bromley pack.

District cub scout leader Sue Elwood said: “It was our first event and the children certainly enjoyed it.

“And the people in the park were delightful. There was a bird watching event going on and they were saying how nice to see kids doing positive things rather than the bad press that you get in the papers.”

The cub packs used to belong to five separate districts of Petts Wood, Chislehurst, Orpington, Bromley and Beckenham and these were amalgamated last November.
