A COUPLE have celebrated 60 years of wedded bliss with their “wonderful” family.

Reg, 87, Jean Stevens, 78, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with their five children, 12 grandchildren and great grandchild at their home in Chelsfield Road, Orpington.

The couple, who were married in Footscray on 22 March 1952, first met in Downham when Mr Stevens was doing a decorating job at the house of his wife-to-be.

Mr Stevens said: “I remember I was doing the house up and Jean was brushing her hair upstairs and she threw some out the window and it landed on me. I went upstairs and asked if she would like it back and that was it.

“She had the most lovely curly hair. “The most important thing is having a wonderful family, that’s what’s done it for us. There’s nothing they wouldn’t do for us.

“Me and my wife share everything together and don’t fall out, apart from a few head butts here and there. Our whole life has been our children - that’s what it’s all about.”
