A 24-YEAR-OLD man whose dog killed a cat is to face trial after he denied causing unnecessary suffering to his pets.

Savas Tektas of Austen Road, Erith pleaded not guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to his Anatolian Shepherd dog by failing to groom or feed it sufficiently.

He also pleaded not guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a cat by failing to control his dog and allegedly allowing it to kill the cat.

At Bexley Magistrates’ Court on March 30, the defendant also denied one count of failing to be responsible for his dog to ensure its welfare.

He allegedly failed to give the dog a suitable diet and protect it from pain, suffering and disease.

A date for trial is yet to be set.
