A COMMUNITY action group has joined with their local primary school to help tidy up the area.

Pupils at Highfield Infant School in Highfield Drive, Shortlands, joined the Friends of South Hill Wood and Kingswood Glen to launch a litter campaign.

They have designed banners advertising the campaign which have been put in Tootswood Road and Westmoreland Road, and have been out litter picking in South Hill Wood, which is between the two roads.

Posters designed by pupils will be put up around the wood reminding people to keep it tidy.

One of the Friends Brian Dunk said: “We’re trying to improve the general area and give it a tidy up.

“One of our main interests is getting the children interested in the outside environment. It’s going really well so far and the kids love going over there.”
