A WELL-TRAVELLED couple from Swanley who married in the snow have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Peter Fenoulhet, 84, and his wife Joan, 83, celebrated 60 years together with their daughter and two grandsons at their home in Selah Drive yesterday (March 29).
The couple met as they trained as nurses at Dulwich Hospital and married at St Mary of Nazareth church in West Wickham, enjoying their wedding on a budget of £50.
Over the next six decades, they travelled as far as California, India and Singapore.
Mrs Fenoulhet said: “The sun was shining the week before the wedding but on March 29 we had six foot of snow.
“I couldn’t afford a wedding dress but had a friend who was a dress-maker and she did a lovely job making one for me.”
Mr Fenoulhet worked for 28 years as a flight director for British Airways while his wife spent 55 years as a nurse.
