DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation after the body of woman was found at an address in Forest Hill.

Police attended just after midday today (Mar 24) and found the woman with multiple injuries.

A woman, in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although detectives believe they know the identity of the deceased, next of kin has not been informed and no formal identification has taken place.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody at a south London police station.

Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
