A DOUBLE-DECKER bus caught alight this morning in New Cross.
London Fire Brigade was called to reports of a bus and car on fire at 8.22am (March 17) in Kitto Road at the junction with Pepys Road.
Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters attended the scene.
They had it under control by 8.59am.
London Ambulance Service attended but there were no patients.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Director of operations for London Buses, Mike Weston, said: βAt around 08:25 this morning we received reports of a fire on board a route 343 double deck bus on Pepys Road in New Cross.
"The bus was in service at the time of the incident. The driver was able to quickly help passengers off the bus and none were injured.
"The emergency services attended the scene and the fire was extinguished at around 09:20.
"We will be appointing our own independent fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.β
