A BECKENHAM couple have laughed their way to 60 years of marriage after flirting over eclairs as teenagers.

Ron, 83, and Margaret Allingham, 80, of Eldersly Close, celebrated the milestone with friends and family.

The couple first met when Mrs Allingham was just 16, working as a cashier in Kennards department store in Croydon and Mr Allingham used to come into the cafeteria to buy eclairs.

They married four years later on March 22 and now have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Mrs Allingham said: "They key to a successful marriage is to give and take and keep a sense of humour.

Mr Allingham added: "We seemed to hit it off straight away and it’s been like that ever since.

"We’ve had a very comfortable, good life. We’re very, very happy.

"When you’ve done 60 years it doesn’t seem like such a long time."
