MIDWIVES learned from mothers when they held a patient experience event.

The five mothers were invited to talk to South London Healthcare NHS Trust staff and their experiences became the topics for discussion and learning for the rest of the day.

A mixture of consultants, obstetricians, neonatal nurses, midwives and domestic staff attended and everyone learned something from the stories they listened to.

They included midwife Hazel Sande who said: “There is so much we can take away with us and share with our colleagues, and lessons for us to learn here.

“It really makes you think about what you do.

“You think you’re doing a good job, and we are, but we can forget the simple things like what expression we’re wearing.

“What a difference a smile can make.”
