CONSUMERS are being invited to attend a free theatre production that tackles the issues of doorstep crime and distraction burglary.

Bromley Council is funding four shows performed by the Attic Theatre Company aimed at raising awareness of cold callers and scams and how to avoid becoming a victim.

The play, called Ma Kelly's Doorstep, tells the story of Ma Kelly, a lady who lives alone and is visited by a variety of callers, some genuine, some not.

She likes company and is very trusting but this can sometimes make her vulnerable to unscrupulous traders.

Portfolio holder for public protection and safety Councillor Tim Stevens said: "One of my main priorities is the protection or elderly people in Bromley. This play is a fantastic way of helping to empower local older consumers to be safe in their own homes by following a few simple rules."

The free show will be performed at 10.15am on March 14 at Whitefield Hall United Reform Church, Widmore Road, Bromley; at 2.30pm on March 15 at Anerley Town Hall, Anerley Road; and at 2pm on March 16 at Central Library in Bromley High Street.
