TWO sisters have embarked on a jungle trek across Costa Rica to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Carol Smedley, 53, of Dene Close, Dartford and 54-year-old Nicky Brant, of Dairsie Road, Eltham have raised more than £6,000 for the charity through donations, BBQs, cabaret nights and auctions.
They decided to take on the challenge after Mrs Brant's son was injured in Afghanistan.
The jungle trek involved climbing hills to more than 2,000ft, water rafting and sleeping outdoors with snakes, spiders and other jungle animals.
Mrs Smedley and Mrs Brant were joined by 28 other trekkers, including several servicemen who had been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as four Gurkhas.
Mrs Smedley said: "We may not be able to stop our service men and women being injured, but by raising much needs funds, we can help them get better."
