POLITICS students were thrilled to meet David Miliband on a trip to the Houses of Parliament.

Sixth formers from Christ the King (St Mary’s) College, in Chislehurst Road, Sidcup, recognised Mr Miliband and approached him while he was enjoying a coffee in Portcullis House.

Mr Miliband asked students questions about their visit to Westminster and their a-level studies.

He was particularly interested in what they enjoyed about A level government and politics and told them he is teaching the course at his old comprehensive in Camden.

Student Tasa Ikie, aged 17 from Sidcup, said: "We were quite shy about whether we should approach him but we thought we wouldn’t have a chance to see him again.

"He was really friendly and approachable, I didn’t expect that of a politician."
