AROUND thirty people descended on a new lunch club for deaf pensioners on its opening day.
The club has been set up by Remark, an organisation run by deaf people, which will now hold regular events at Progress Hall, Admiral Seymour Road, Eltham.
Lunch clubs are intended to help deaf people to meet, socialise and have fun using sign language.
Community liaison officer Cheryl Culver said: "Our aim is to get around 50 older people there every week."
Along with the delicious hot food, people from Remark also offered advocacy support and help with translations, along with other services.
If you want to get involved, email cheryl.culver@remark.uk.com or text her on 07595 036 641.
