A GROUP of French teenagers have spent a week working in Bexley as part of a schools work-experience exchange.

The French students from the school in Roquebrune Cap Martin, in south France, took part in an exchange with year 12 girls studying French at Townley Grammar School, in Townley Road.

During the five-day exchange the 18 students worked across the borough, with a third working at the Marriott Hotel in Bexleyheath Broadway.

They practised their English skills by alternating between shifts on reception, in the restaurant and in the leisure club. Others, somewhat appropriately, became waiters and waitresses at Cafe Rouge at Bluewater.

Careers co-ordinator Jennie Kay said: “We all have had such an amazing experience with our new French friends and are so excited to take part in the return trip to visit them in France in June.”

Townley Grammar School teaches 1,500 girls aged between 11 and 18.
