HUNDREDS of runners braved the rain to raise money for older people at a Crystal Palace fun run.

The inaugural Wrap Up and Run 10k event in Crystal Palace Park was organised by Age UK to raise money for their spread the warmth campaign, which aims to make the colder months warmer for 360,000 older people by providing information, advice and practical services.

Some money will also go to Age UK Bromley and Greenwich to fund local services for the elderly.

Age UK events manager Fiona Jerman said: "We are delighted with the number of people who took part in our first ever 10k run in Crystal Palace.

"From first time novices to experienced runners, everyone had fun on the day and braved the weather to raise money for older people locally, as well as supporting national projects that change lives."
