TWO pensioners are due to appear in court charged with conspiracy to defraud.
Hardev Singh Dhillon, believed to be a committee member of the Greenwich Council for Racial Equality, and Makhan Bajwa, believed to be the charity’s former director, were both arrested last year.
They are due to appear on bail at Bexley Magistrates' court on March 15.
Last March two addresses in south east London were searched after a warrant was executed by the Met’s Economic and Specialist Crime Directorate.
Dhillon, aged 76, from Woolwich was arrested on suspicion of fraud and false accounting.
Bajwa, aged 67, from Erith was arrested by appointment on April 13 last year in connection with the investigation.
Both men were released on bail pending further inquiries and were charged last month.
