TEENAGERS are being offered the chance to sign up for National Citizen Service.

Anyone in Year 11, who is 16 by August 31, can take part in NCS.

After three weeks of team-building and outdoors activities, participants spend 30 hours helping to improve the community.

There will be 170 places available for young people in Bexley this summer.

MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, David Evennett said: "National Citizen is an excellent way to meet new people, work as a team, learn new skills and give something back.

"Having met one of the local operators, I am sure that these places will be of great benefit to young people and our local community.

"I very much hope that in time, this programme can be extended to all 16-year-olds".
