FOUR arrests were made and eight vehicles seized in a Metropolitan Police day of action to disrupt crime by targeting uninsured drivers.

More than 10,000 vehicles passed automatic numberplate recognition systems in Bexley on Thursday, March 1 as part of the London-wide Operation Cubo.

Across the borough, 217 vehicles were stopped, with 13 fixed penalty notices issued and four people arrested – one disqualified driver, two for suspected immigration offences and one on suspicion of theft.

In the last five months, 15,000 cars have been seized throughout the capital as part of Operation Cubo.

Bexley’s borough commander, Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer said: “It is important that we continue to target uninsured drivers and disrupt the activities of criminals who use the roads to aid their offending.”
