A TALENTED singer has been crowned Bexley Young Musician of the Year.
Melissa Kirby sang three songs to beat off opposition from nine other finalists aged 14 to 18.
The competition contained sections for singing, piano, flute, trumpet, clarinet, trombone, alto saxophone, and classical guitar.
Melissa, a Townley Grammar School pupil, was presented with her cup by Bexley mayor, Councillor Ray Sams.
The 16-year-old is taking her Grade 7 exam for voice in the spring and has also attained Grade 5 for trombone.
All finalists received certificates, souvenir photographs and a cheque for £50.
The event is held every two years and is organised by the five Rotary clubs of the borough.
