PERMISSION has been granted to install an illuminated sign outside the Boat House in Bexleyheath’s Danson Park.
The application was put before Bexley Council’s planning committee to replace the current sign with a larger, light-up advertisement, spanning 7m in width.
Bexley Civic Society and two homeowners objected to the plan, saying the sign is too large and will destroy the character of the area.
However, councillors approved the application with conditions stating the sign must not flash or be illuminated beyond 11pm, apart from on and Fridays and Saturdays when it can be lit until midnight.
The picturesque Boat House venue can be hired for corporate events as well as for weddings and family celebrations.
