Bexley Council is reminding dog-owners to clean up after their pet – or face a £1,000 fine.

News Shopper reported last week how one mother from Barnehurst is being forced to carry her pushchair down an alleyway to avoid it running through dog mess.

The council encourages responsible dog ownership and is making it clear all dog-owners should put waste in one of the boroughs 200 dedicated dog waste bins.

It is the responsibility of the person in charge of the dog to clear up the mess or face a fixed penalty notice that could lead to prosecution and a fine.

Homeowners with a dog-fouling problem in their area should contact Bexley Council by calling 020 8303 7777.
