THREE brothers are facing jail for an attack on a man which left him unconscious under a bus with a crushed leg.

Alex, Ross and Nicholas Lovett repeatedly stamped on 33-year-old Andrew Cross's head and body after chasing him into the path of a double decker bus.

The incident happened in Broadway, Bexleyheath on March 6 last year.

Ross, aged 32, of Falstaff Road, Dartford, and Nicholas, aged 39, of Turnbull Close, Greenhithe denied wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and affray.

But they were convicted following a trial. Alex, aged 37, of West Sussex, admitted the same offences.

The court heard Mr Cross and Mr Workman were waiting in line at Excel Cabs in Broadway when they noticed Alex had a man by the neck against a wall.

Mr Cross intervened and the clash subsided, but as he walked outside Alex head butted and pushed him.

Ross also head butted Mr Workman.

The brawl unfolded and Mr Cross punched Alex's face, leaving him with swollen eyes.

CCTV footage showed Mr Cross trying to get away from them and swinging his arms before a bus then came towards them.

Fortunately the driver saw the commotion and slowed down but the wheel crushed Mr Cross’ leg.

Prosecutor Jonathan Turner said the brothers stamped on the victim's head and Mr Cross lost consciousness.

A gash on his calf was said to have been caused by the kicks, and the bus tyre also left imprints on his limb.

Mr Cross was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he needed stitches for his leg wound, which had to be set in plaster.

He also had facial lacerations and pain opening his jaw.

Ross was also convicted of assaulting Mr Cross’s friend, Martin Workman, occasioning him actual bodily harm after he stepped in to intervene.

Alex was granted bail while Ross and Nicholas were remanded in custody until sentencing on March 2.
