VOLUNTEERS at a Bexleyheath charity have transformed a pocket of derelict land into a peaceful ‘eco-therapy garden.’
The re-vamped garden at ‘Mind in Bexley’, in the Broadway, was officially opened on Wednesday (February 15) by Bexley Councillor Eileen Pallen.
It has been created from scratch throughout the past six months by service users, offering them the chance to gain new skills and work in partnership with others as the project came together.
Volunteer Pam Matthews said: “The garden brings so much joy to people who don’t see anyone else and people who don’t have a garden to enjoy and tend for themselves.
“Creating it has been such a lovely experience for us all and Cllr Pallen is really impressed.”
A mural depicting two horses - painted by a service user - is a centre-piece in the garden, which will be used all year-round for outdoor events such as BBQs.
Mind in Bexley works to improve emotional and mental distress through provision of advice and information.
