DETECTIVES are looking for a man in a distinctive wooly hat after more than £10,000 in cash was swiped from an Eltham bank customer.

On February 1at 4.15pm, the 51-year-old man entered Lloyds TSB in Eltham High Street carrying an orange plastic bag full of money.

As he placed the bag on the bank counter, another man pushed the victim to the floor, snatched the loot and fled.

Police now want to trace a man who was caught on CCTV.

He is described as white, around 6ft tall, in his late 20s, wearing a black and white hat, grey top with a hood and grey jogging bottoms.

The man also wore a black scarf and black gloves.

Detective David Ibbot from the Plumstead Robbery squad said: "We have reasons to believe that the suspect did not purposely follow the victim.

“He was already inside the bank where he seized his opportunity to steal the bag with the money.”
