SPECTATORS for the Olympics at Greenwich Park have been reduced by 25,000, organisers have confirmed.
The park, which will host equestrian events this summer, was due to have a maximum crowd of 75,000.
But an official figure was put on hold after the London Assembly Transport Committee raised concerns about massive queues at train stations.
Now organisers Locog have reached a final figure of 50,000 ticketed spectators for cross country day on July 30.
They said the number was reached following last year’s test event, crowd modelling and transport assessments of Greenwich town centre, which will see Cutty Sark DLR closed from 9am to 6pm.
Venue manager for Locog Jeremy Edwards said: “We have had to take into account the need to put on an event in which people can move around to enjoy the cross country course and safety of crowd numbers outside the venue.
“We believe that 50,000 is the best number to ensure a fantastic experience for spectators and we are working hard on our plans to make this happen.”
Plans for the sale of any remaining tickets will be announced in the coming months.
