A GARAGE owner insists his business is “going nowhere” – even if a scheme to turn it into flats is approved.
Kings Highway Garage owner Roland Young’s application for planning permission will be decided next Thursday.
Under the plan, which has had 23 letters of objection, the Plumstead site would be redeveloped and replaced with four blocks containing 87 flats.
But Mr Young, who has applied for a similar scheme before, said even if officers’ recommendations to approve the scheme were agreed, his business would stay open.
He blamed the current economic climate and said the plan was unlikely to go ahead in the immediate future.
Mr Young said: “We’re going nowhere.
“The garage is not sold and there’s no prospect of it being sold in the near future.”
