A 'white' man roaming around in a girls school? Completely unacceptable.
Why were the valuables not locked up?
Too many questions about a place where there are minors.
I dearly hope the school, who are negligent and liable, replace all items and furthermore take steps to make their venue safe!

I went to this school and it is always wide open. Anyone can walk right in and the gym is just as you go in the main building so simple to get in and out quickly. They really need to tighten up security as there are 3 different buildings on different sides of the road. Perhaps they could invest in entry code systems. They're not that expensive. Just change the codes every few months

I am a parent of a pupil who had something stolen and as bad as that is, I am more worried about sending her to an unsafe school where anyone can enter the school unchallenged. There have always been issues with security at this school and we are just relieved no one got hurt.

The P.E. Changing rooms has 2 safety deposit boxes in the changing rooms which are padlocked once the room's left. Either the thief is very good at picking locks or the girls didn't bother to protect their valuables by easily reaching into their bag and shoving them in a box at most 5 metres away...not just negligence on behalf of the school...

I doubt the school will be liable. I think people will have to claim on their own insurance. For a start, it's probably against school rules to have mobile phones so that's a good get out anyway for the school.
(p.s. Don't worry about "The Wall's" comments. I've made the same observation to him. If he can't think of a good argument or constructive comment, he'll result to telling you your comment is rubbish!)

Sorry I missed the instructions on how to use this web site, care to provide a link.

No it was not constructive. Schools are short of money so just make a claim and why not get some compo for hurt feelings as well. It is not the schools problem. The fact is all schools in the UK would prefer if pupils didn't bring in phones iPod etc because of such issues as this. People need to take accountability and responsibility for their property.

If you go to a restaurant and your coat gets stolen it's your problem. This is the same as the school.

The girls were on a 30 second count down to get changed. Unfortunately only 2 girls managed to get their valuables into the lockable box before it closed. Many of the girls use the facility but did not get the chance to do so this time.

Wind your neck in pal. Who made you Overlord of the comments on the interweb. You come across as a control freak telling people what to do. Why use 100 word when you can sum up peoples comments in a few words. I don't beat around the bush, I say it how I see it. I'm not a touchy feely person and I don't care if my opinion up sets people. If you don't like it don't read it.

I really thought this web site was for comments, not for arguing and being, wrongly, assertive.
Some people have far too much time on their hands.
The students of this school are allowed mobiles. Not all students that day were given the chance to lock their valuables away. Strangely, every other week they are?
It is very sad that this school has made their students vulnerable.

Actually both the Boys school and the Girls school actively encourage the use of "smart" devices. Neither have rules preventing the carrying of mobile phones preferring only to restrict their use within the school rules which, are generally adhered to. I think the school have recognised that legitimate use of such devices brings a benefit to all, especially where the pupils have to travel on long journeys home.

How did everyone live before the moblie phone ? Also does the school 'actively encourage' taking responsibility for ones own property ?
