PENSIONERS in Dartford are being given the chance to join a free class to help prevent falls.

The classes are ideal for frail or elderly people who have had a fall as well those who have a fear of falling or anyone with poor posture and balance.

Trained professionals will provide practical advice and support to prevent a second fall.

The hour long sessions include a warm up, gentle endurance work, resistance exercises and a 10 minute cool down followed by a cup of tea and a chat.

They will take place at Alamein Gardens Supported Housing Scheme, in Alamein Gardens, Stone, from January 20 for 13 weeks.

The programme is run by Dartford Council in partnership with NHS West Kent.

The council’s lead member for health, Councillor Ann Allen, said: “Falls can pose a serious danger for older residents, but in many cases they are preventable.

"By attending this free programme, older residents could help to avoid a serious injury or something worse.”
