A TOP independent girls’ school has been branded outstanding by inspectors.

Sydenham High School was lavishly praised by six inspectors from the Independent Schools Inspectorate who spent five days with students and staff.

There was praise for the “excellent teaching” of the school curriculum, diverse extra-curricular activities along with the scope for pupils’ personal development.

Pupils themselves were described by inspectors as “enthusiastic learners with an excellent work ethic”.

Headteacher Kathryn Pullen said: “Sydenham High girls leave school educated not simply examined.

“We are delighted that the inspection team highlighted the range of the girls’ achievements and their refusal to accept limitations to their horizons.”
