GREENWICH Council has been asked to reconsider spending £3.3m on a horse-riding centre.
Conservative councillors Spencer Drury and Nigel Fletcher have asked for the decision to be called-in for a meeting on Thursday.
They claim the controversial Horticultural and Equestrian Skills Centre does not represent value for money and may not provide the opportunities promised for residents.
A number of objections were made to the application, approved last year, complaining about the use of Metropolitan Open Land.
But Councillor Denise Hyland, cabinet member for regeneration, enterprise and skills, agreed the expenditure earlier this month.
The centre, to be built next to Woodlands Farm in Shooters Hill, is due to be run by Hadlow College and is set to include include an outdoor all weather arena, stables for 20 horses and a 25 metre equine swimming pool.
Building work is set to start in February with the aim of enrolling students in the Autumn.
