A BOROUGH’s first free school has started taking admissions for up to 100 pupils – despite not yet having a building.
Greenwich Free School is set to open in the Woolwich area this September and is accepting Year 7 pupils for the academic year.
Organisers promise smaller classes, an extended day, compulsory extra-curricular activities and a focus on the core maths, English and science subjects.
The school, free of local authority control, is still negotiating with the Department for Education on proposed sites, with Adair House in Shooter’s Hill Road its preferred option.
Head teacher Lee Faith said: “We’re building a school with teachers who genuinely care and know how to ensure pupils flourish in all they do, in school and beyond.”
Open evenings run on January 19 and February 2 from 7pm to 8pm at Shrewsbury House Community Centre, Bushmoor Crescent, Shooter’s Hill.
