STUDENTS from a Bexleyheath school have been celebrating their diversity and culture.
Bexleyheath Academy, in Woolwich Road, has signed up to the Stephen Lawrence Education Standard, which encourages schools to promote race equality and diversity in classes, assemblies and break times as well as in their work with the community and other schools.
Students at the Academy are planning a variety of activities including a photographic exhibition with an identity and diversity theme as well as creating PSHE lessons for other students.
Principal Robert Dore said: “I am very proud of the work the students have already undertaken in trying to promote understanding about identity and diversity.
"This standard will provide a framework that ensures their hard work is recognised and rewarded.”
Gary Dobson and David Norris were found guilty on January 3 of murdering black teenager, Stephen, at a bus stop in Eltham on April 22, 1993.
