EMERGENCY services were called out to Hither Green station after a man was hit by a train and killed.

Police and ambulances were called to the scene near the railway station at around 10.35am this morning.

Despite the arrival of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "Officers are currently working to establish the identity of the man and inform his next of kin.

“The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious.”

The train involved was the 10.10am Charing Cross to Dover Priory service.

Following their earlier closure, all lines have now reopened.

Train services may still be delayedby up to 20 mins at short notice until around 1.45pm.
